Who: 

HRK exists to serve Full and Part-time Homeschool students entering grades 5th - 12th in the fall of the current school year. There MAY BE opportunities for NON-homeschooled students on a team. (4th graders who have volleyball experience may be considered as practice players depending on available spaces on the team - Please contact Sarah Bethel to discuss.)

When: 

Girls Volleyball is a fall sport that runs mid-August through October.  

 Boys Volleyball is a spring sport that runs late February through the early May. 

Practice and game days vary. Practices are 2 hours with a built-in 30 minutes for devotions and team-building. These practices could be anytime from 3:00-8:00, with the younger teams going first. We will not schedule any practices or games on Sundays.   

Where: 

We usually practice at Village Church of Gurnee, however, we have used Lord of Glory in Grayslake, IL, the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, WI, Trevor Wilmot School in Trevor, WI, and the Gardner Barn in Spring Grove, IL.

GIRLS:

Junior High (5th- 8th grades) Overview:  

Registration Fee: The registration fee for Fall 2024 is $185.

Teams: Our Junior High players are typically divided into two teams: a 5/6th and a 7/8th. 

Games/Tournaments: Our Junior High teams play in the NICC against private schools in Lake County, IL. In addition, we play Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin homeschool teams. The NICC sets their schedule in late July. Once that is out dates will be added to the HRK calendar.  

Practices: Practices begin in early August. Practice will generally be twice a week.   

Uniforms: Jersey top - Players must purchase a team jersey. The expected cost is $25. Sizing will be completed at evaluations. Shorts - Short must be black with a minimum 8 inch inseam. No biker shorts/leggings unless worn under shorts.     

High School (9th- 12th grades) Overview:  

Registration Fee: The registration fee for Fall 2024 is $225. 

Teams: Our high school players are typically divided into two teams: JV and Varsity. 

Games/Tournaments: Our high school teams play in the HSWIL Conference which consists of homeschool teams from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. We will attend games and tournaments during the week and on Saturdays. Many of these will be at RecPlex in Pleasant, Prairie, WI. We will not have games on Wednesday evenings. Games will be added to the HRK calendar soon!  

One trip requiring a hotel stay will be the Midwest Volleyball Classic in Fort Wayne, IN on October 4-5. This is an annual favorite for our players!   

 Our season will conclude with a trip to Nationals October 17-19.  

*Hotel and travel expenses are not included in the HRK registration fee, but we work to make it very affordable!

BOYS: We are excited to offer Boys Volleyball again!   

Registration is open for Boys Volleyball!

Junior High (6th- 8th grades) Overview:  

Registration Fee: The registration fee is $160.  

Teams: We will have at least one Junior High team. 

Games/Tournaments: Our Junior High teams play in the NICC against private schools in Lake County, IL. In addition, we play Northern IL and Southern Wisconsin homeschool teams. The NICC sets their schedule in January. Once that is out, dates will be added to the HRK calendar.

Practices: Practices begin early February. Practice days will vary.

High School Overview:

Registration Fee: The registration fee is $200.

Teams: We will have at least one High School team. If we have enough players, we will offer JV and Varsity.                                                                           

Games/Tournaments: Our high school teams play against other homeschool teams from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. We hope to include games with any private school that has room in their schedule.

Practices: Practice begins early February. Practice days will vary.
