Our off-season training will begin with one session a week for the first 12 weeks. After the first 12 weeks, we will begin meeting 2-3 times a week for our HRK basketball pre-season. By the time the competitive season starts, we should be at peak condition and go into maintenance mode. Each of our conditioning sessions will be a mixture of basketball skill development, strength and conditioning, and game concepts. Our goal is to build upon our conditioning each week, so homework will be assigned. It will be very difficult to maintain the level of intensity at the sessions if the homework is skipped through the rest of the week, so self-discipline will be vital. [God’s Glory!] Modifications will absolutely be made for injuries, and it is imperative that participants are honest with the coaches if we need make these modifications. Our goals for conditioning are not only for peak performance, but also for injury prevention.
Each weekly session for the first 10 weeks will be two hours long, split between a Bible study (see info below) and conditioning.
The materials needed for the training sessions are:
- Water bottle
- Outdoor basketball with participant's name on it
Secondly, We have a unique opportunity during these sessions to not only build our physical strength together, but our spiritual strength together as well. So in addition to the off-season training, as a group we will be going through a book study together. Our high school teams will be going through the book Crazy Love
by Francis Chan. Here is the introduction video to the book: http://crazylovebook.com/index.html
The materials needed for this study are
- Crazy Love book
- Living Crazy Love: An Interactive Workbook for Individual or Small-Group Study
***If your athlete does not wish to participate in the study, he or she should arrive for the conditioning at 3:15 pm.***
